Income support for small business owners and sole-traders

Small business owners may receive a top-up income support to supplement their current income to Dutch social welfare minimum.  In addition, you may apply for a bridge loan up to € 10,517.-

The top-up income support is initially given for a period of three months.

Who is eligible for the income top-up support?

The income top-up support is for all small business owners and sole traders who meet the following criteria:
  1. You run a Netherlands registered business (sole trader, VOF, B.V., etc)
  2. As a limited liability company (B.V. or N.V.) owner, you are a majority shareholder
  3. As of 1 March 2020, your income is reduced to below the social welfare minimum (see table above) due to the corona virus situation
  4. You are a legal Dutch resident
  5. Your business is registered in the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) before 17 March 2020
  6. Your business activities are mainly performed out of the Netherlands
  7. You work for at least 1,225 hours per year (or 24 hours per week). Time spent on administrative duties, acquisition, etc included
  8. You are 18 years or older and you have not reach the Dutch statutory retirement age
  9. Your company is not bankrupt or in liquidation or in the process of being liquidated 

How to apply for the income top-up support?

The income top-up support and the bridge loan is provided by the municipality where you are registered as a resident.  Contact your local municipality for more information and application.
